Church was not part of the early years of Steve’s life. It was not until he was around 13 that he was invited to go to church with a friend. It was then that Steve started to learn about Jesus. “I was 16 and at a revival at Florence Memorial Stadium when I asked Jesus into my heart,” Steve recalled. Over the next few years of high school, “I grew into my Christian walk only to stray away as I entered my college years and into the early years of my career.” At 31 Steve met the love of his life who got him back into going to church and putting his focus back on his Christian walk.
When asked what attracted Steve to CTO, “My work schedule kept me extremely busy although I always enjoyed the outdoors (hunting / fishing) and had a desire to develop a camp or something similar that would benefit the youth in our area.” Steve was able to retire at 55 and shortly after that a friend introduced him to CTO.
“CTO brought the two things I enjoyed doing in my life together, sharing Jesus and the outdoors.” Steve was once asked what the purpose of life is. His response was, “to do everything, everyday as the best as I could to go to heaven and to take as many people as possible with me. With my love for the outdoors and the understanding of getting the message of Christ to our youth. CTO has and is helping me fulfill my calling in life.”
